About This Job

We are looking to add a Manager, Government Relations to support our growing team. This person will support all aspects of Dutchie’s global government affairs and public policy strategy. Expected outcomes include strengthening Dutchie’s government relations program by developing relationships with key regulators and industry associations, advancing Dutchie’s public policy agenda, and keeping leadership informed on key legislative developments and updates. This person will report to the Assistant General Counsel responsible for Government Relations and will be part of the Counsel Team led by the General Counsel.

What You'll Do...

  • Support all aspects of dutchie’s global government affairs strategy, including evaluating risks and opportunities, setting short and long-term priorities, and using diverse tactics such as direct lobbying, thought leadership, and external partnerships to shift the public debate and advance those goals
  • Oversee comprehensive campaigns in dutchie’s core markets, including the US and Canada, working with partners in and outside dutchie to frame issues to advance our agenda and advocate on behalf of our dispensary partners
  • Educate and advise dutchie senior leadership on policy issues that could impact dutchie and the cannabis community in our core markets, keeping other relevant internal partners informed and involved as needed
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of dutchie’s current and future products and services, and assess key legislative, policy, and regulatory risks and opportunities
  • Work with internal partners to articulate and share dutchie’s position on priority policy issues
  • Support identification of strategic targets and oversee dutchie’s efforts to build strong and long-lasting relationships with policymakers
  • Support company engagement with government officials, trade associations, coalitions, and lobbying firms as needed

What You Bring...

  • 5+ years of experience working in government and public affairs at a law firm, government agency or organization, or in-house at a technology or cannabis company
  • Deep knowledge of US federal and state legislative and policy processes, ideally with experience operating in multiple jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with government officials, including advocacy on behalf of public interest, trades associations, or any other interest groups
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational, prioritization and multitasking skills
  • Strong strategy expertise, with the ability to assess the landscape, set goals, prioritize tactics, and mobilize to effectively execute on them
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple partners, executing strategies, delivering solutions, and leading cross-functional projects
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into simple and easily understandable concepts, and communicate these ideas clearly, accurately, and persuasively in verbal and written form to internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to integrate government affairs and public policy with business strategy
