Job Summary:   BDSA is seeking a Sales Director who will be responsible for growing, managing, mentoring and enabling our Account Executive team, reporting into the Chief Revenue Officer. The ideal candidate is a coach, a leader, a communicator, a seller, a problem-solver, and a data junkie. They are a skilled manager who can identify sales roadblocks and support the account executives to overcome them, both with prospects and internally.

The Sales Director is responsible for both people and process to ensure team goals are reached and exceeded. This individual will work closely with AEs to build and execute on a strategy to meet quotas, while maintaining clean pipeline and CRM, supporting pricing and contract negotiations, and advocating for the needs of the team.

A successful Sales Director will be excited to jump in and support the team in a hands-on capacity, joining calls and strategic opportunities rather than coaching from the sidelines. The Sales Director is also responsible for working with cross-functional business leaders on the go-to-market strategy, and reporting pipeline and quota attainment updates to the executive team. The account executive team reporting into the Sales Director is responsible for recognizing sales opportunities, developing and conducting outreach, identifying and qualifying leads, and converting leads into sales.  This is a goal-oriented team driven to hit numbers every month and quarter.   

Essentials Functions and Responsibilities:   

  • Lead, train, and motivate salespeople, and create a positive and determined team culture
  • Partner with leadership cross-functionally to problem solve and identify opportunities to improve sales and the go-to-market strategy
  • Hire new team members when there is open headcount, and implement a sales training and onboarding program to educate new employees
  • Join conversations with strategic customers for networking, need identification, and deal support
  • Support the team on effective prospecting/nurturing, deal structuring, and pricing
  • Learn and demonstrate an in-depth understanding of BDSA’s offerings, and make certain the team can clearly articulate the sales story to prospective customers, master the demo, and effectively identify opportunities
  • Serve as a representative of the company at conferences, events, trade shows, and other industry functions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job-Related Educations and/or Experience:   

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (market research sales experience especially valued) 
  • 5-7+ years B2B sales experience with a software-based or data solution suite 
  • 2+ years sales management experience, meeting or exceeding targets, with a proven ability to coach and up-skill a team.
  • Experience with one or more of the following industries is desired but not required: Cannabis, CPG, Market Research, Food & Beverages, Tobacco, Cannabis, Financial Services, Software, Pharmaceuticals  
  • Proven ability to drive the end-to-end sales process from plan to close
  • Ability to communicate, present, build relationships, and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Ability to derive insights from new information and develop clear sales strategies to be followed by the team. A background in, or love of, data analytics and market research a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Proficient at using and managing client base using a CRM software such as Salesforce or Hubspot

Annual Base Salary Range: $100-115k + up to 20% variable opportunity
