Accounts Payable Supervisor

The Accounts Payable Supervisor will be responsible for managing, directing, and overseeing the operational functions and activities of the Accounts Payable department ensuring workflow requirements are performed in a timely and accurate manner; maintaining cost effective and efficient processes; and delivering superior internal and external customer service in support of organizational goals. Must be a great leader, mentor, and communicator to ensure the goals of the department and company are met. Must be a positive role model for the team.  This position reports to the Accounts Payable Manager.

Position is primarily remote with some preference for candidates with driving distance of either Clearwater, FL or Tempe, AZ office for occasional in-office meetings.  Travel possible but less than 5%.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Accounts Payable Team including evaluating the performance of direct reports and mentoring employees. Manage team productivity, accuracy and quality in processing vendor invoices and payments.
  • Ensure SOX compliance within the areas of AP and disbursement internal controls
  • Oversee invoice approval process through a 3-way match ERP system workflow
  • Provide accounting assistance to management and employees related to vendor expenses and payment processing research, expense analysis, and procedures
  • Ensure correct GL coding for all locations, licensed holding entities and departments
  • Partnering with departments to resolve purchase order and vendor invoice issues
  • Lead investigating and handling complex invoice processing discrepancies, payment issues, and complaints
  • Assist with year-end planning and preparation of 1099 filings
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to Accounts Payable
  • Implement, maintain, and document effective internal control structure and environment
  • Preparing ad-hoc projects as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • 3-5 years payable experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Proven record of process improvement and internal control implementation
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Proven ability to analyze data and draw appropriate conclusions to inform policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Self-directed and able to work both independently and in a team environment with multiple competing demands

 

Salary will be commensurate with experience.   A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
