Cookies is an iconic cannabis company dedicated to quality and innovation. With humble roots in garage grows in San Francisco, Cookies develops the world’s most famous library of strains and distributes a full portfolio of premium flower and manufactured products thru an international network of partners and branded stores.

 

Cookies is now seeking a Director of Business Development. This individual will report directly to the SVP of Commercial and will partner with Cookies’ senior leadership team to drive sales and strategic partnerships on a global scale.

 

The ideal candidate is analytically-oriented and has both CRM management expertise as well as a proven track record of closing deals across all levels of an organization. This individual will be comfortable operating with autonomy and ambiguity while identifying best-in-market candidates to become Cookies’ production and retail partners. This individual will leverage data to drive outreach strategies and RFP processes so that we can collect data and make informed decisions. They will manage their pipeline and quickly deliver significant results by closing production, retail, and brand deals across the portfolio.

 

We are ultimately looking for a person with experience building strategic partnerships and / or driving revenue-generating priorities. This individual must understand the nuances of cannabis while simultaneously being intrinsically motivated to take advantage of the massive opportunities afforded within this legally nascent industry. We know cannabis can be a force multiplier for equity, economic inclusion, diversity and community, and we are committed to bringing that culture to the world.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data to evaluate the cannabis retail landscape on a market-by-market basis to prioritize areas of growth for the brand.
  • Diligence potential partners’ capabilities to make informed expansion decisions.
  • Manage a high volume of meetings with key accounts that meet Cookies criteria for full retail conversion and / or Cookies Corners.
  • Capture and prioritize inbound and outbound leads through our centralized CRM.
  • Partner with Cookies’ General Counsel to manage the contractual review process and drive agreements to close. This individual must have experience drafting partnership agreements and collaborating with internal and external parties through the redlining process to close deals.
  • Maintain working relationships with our partners and successfully onboard partners with relevant in-house teams.

 

You have:

  • A minimum of 7 years in Sales / Partnerships and Sales Development is required.
  • The ability to execute and get the job done in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • The energy and commitment to win and drive significant business impact.
  • An excitement for feeding the funnel and bringing partnerships to fruition. The words ‘expansion’ and ‘growth’ make you excited to wake up in the morning.
  • The ability to reason through complex business issues which have a significant and material impact to the business.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, while working to meet tight deadlines.
  • Passion for the cannabis industry.
  • A highly collaborative, growth mindset.
  • Prior experience working cross-functionally to execute across all teams and levels.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Strong presentation skills and personal pride in final deliverables.
  • Willingness to travel for work (20%).
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience, MBA ideal.
  • Cannabis cultivation and manufacturing knowledge, along with retail experience, a plus.
  • Track record that demonstrates a drive for results.
  • Ability to positively influence decision-makers.
  • Partner relationship management experience.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheets, Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Project).

This is a full-time position with the ability to work remotely. While our team and company-operated retail locations are primarily located in California, we are open to applicants who are willing to work West Coast business hours.
