Kiva Confections (www.kivaconfections.com) is a world-class cannabis-infused edibles company in California, the largest cannabis market in the world. Kiva's line includes Kiva Chocolate Bars, Terra Bites, Petra Mints, Lost Farms Gummies & Chews, and Camino Gummies. Our products are crafted from premium ingredients and thoughtfully combined with California cannabis. Since our beginning in 2010, our goal has been to create confections that redefine what a cannabis confection ought to be. By applying art and science, we ensure a deliciously consistent experience.

We have high-reaching growth plans as the legal market and consumer adoption expand. Key growth initiatives include ambitious platform innovation, outstanding marketing, geographic expansion, strategic partnerships, and more. We are resourced for this spectacular growth and looking for great people to help take us to the next level.

As Kiva’s forecasting leader, you will be responsible for developing and refining our sales forecasting methodology, tools, and processes. Forecasting without a crystal ball is always complex but forecasting for a high-growth cannabis company is a particularly interesting challenge compared to traditional CPG. If studying and modeling key cannabis industry drivers like category growth, price compression, competitive activity, and cannibalization rates is interesting, this job is for you. We have some of the most sophisticated data in the industry and are looking for the right candidate to put it into action. This position reports to the VP of Information Systems and will partner with leaders from Sales, Marketing, and Finance. This position will have direct reports.

Your challenge will be...

    • Partner with leadership to build a forecasting methodology that works for the cannabis industry. This industry is in its infancy and doesn’t have the bells and whistles available to established CPG industries, like Nielsen or IRI data. Understanding the landscape of available data and then identifying the key variables that drive revenue is priority number one.
    • Identify the key business drivers and develop a company-wide understanding for why these metrics are essential, how they are measured and the levers that be influenced for enhanced success
    • Own the forecast and take pride in making it more accurate over time
    • Tell stories with data to non-technical team members so they can execute more effectively
    • Bring a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and build/review BI dashboards, stakeholder tools, and statistical models to support informed decision making at Kiva

What you'll need...

    • Deep understanding of forecasting and the macro and micro level variables that contribute to forecast development and accuracy
    • Strong familiarity with the implementation and rollout of business intelligence tools to high growth and dynamic organizations
    • Experience collaborating with data engineers and IT to build the data pipelines needed for the forecast model
    • Strong business background in consumer goods in both established and startup companies
    • Proficiency with using data, relational databases, and BI tools
    • Familiarity with SQL and programming languages like R and Python
    • Ability to present complex details in a simple way (including spoken, spreadsheets, or slides)
    • Cannabis experience is a plus but not required
$150,000 - $165,000 a year
Please note, we consider a number of factors such as internal pay parity, relevant experience/skills, geographic location, etc.
