Job Title: Employee Relations Manager

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 DOE, bonus eligible

Type: Exempt

Reports To: Director, Employee Relations

Location: Colorado

 

Position Objective

 

As the Employee Relations Manager, you will be a key member of our Human Resources team, responsible for managing all aspects of employee relations within the assigned region. Your role will involve providing expert guidance and support to employees and management, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies. As a strategic partner, you will work closely with various stakeholders to promote employee engagement and resolve workplace issues effectively.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Employee Relations Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees seeking guidance on workplace-related concerns, conflicts, and grievances. Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures. Work closely with managers to provide advice and assistance on employee performance, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Investigations and Corrective Actions: Conduct investigations into employee complaints, allegations of misconduct, or policy violations. Prepare investigation reports and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation: Establish and oversee a system for reporting and investigating workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses. Ensure that incidents are promptly documented, investigated thoroughly, and appropriate corrective actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.
  • Mediation and Conflict Resolution: Facilitate mediation sessions between employees and management to resolve conflicts and promote effective communication. Act as a neutral party, actively listening to concerns, exploring solutions, and promoting a positive working environment.
  • Compliance with Employment Laws: Interpret policies, ensuring consistent application and compliance with local labor laws and regulations. Stay updated on employment laws, regulations, and industry trends related to employee relations. Ensure adherence to equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws, anti-discrimination policies, and other legal requirements.
  • Recordkeeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records, including investigation reports, disciplinary actions, and other related documentation. Ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements and data privacy regulations.
  • Training and Education: Identify training gaps related to employee relations and deliver or coordinate relevant training programs.
  • Employee Engagement: Identify initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Recommend strategies to foster a positive employee experience and strengthen the employer-employee relationship.
  • Employee Support: Provide guidance and resources to employees facing personal or work-related challenges, such as accommodation requests, harassment concerns, or work-life balance issues. Connect employees with appropriate resources, such as counseling services or employee assistance programs.
  • Employee Exit Process: Assist in executing employee terminations, exit interviews, and separation agreements. Ensure compliance with relevant policies and legal requirements.
Requirements

Education and Experience

 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in HR, employee relations, or a similar people-facing role.
  • Solid knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws.
  • Ability to work independently, balance multiple priorities, while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent follow-up skills and a keen sense of urgency for time sensitive matters.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrating strong proficiency in business writing.
  • Experience conducting investigations, writing investigative reports and performance corrective action plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop compelling presentations to drive the advancement of the company.
  • Amiable demeanor, adaptable and agile nature, combined with a steadfast commitment to hard work, to foster personal and professional development.

 

A Plus, but not Required

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with HRS
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP)

 

Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel)

  • Full-time position is based in Colorado with approximately 50% in-market, 50% in office.
  • Monday – Friday; holidays, nights and weekend work may be required based on the needs of the business.
  • Reliable transportation is a requirement.
  • Possess the ability to perform tasks that involve sitting, standing, walking, and driving as necessary.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an MED Badge in the state of Colorado
