Director of Retail Planning

 

 

Curaleaf is looking for a dynamic, innovative, and creative leader to join our Retail Planning Team. As a Director of Retail Planning for Curaleaf, you will oversee a region accountable for improving the assortment architecture, financial structure, and strategy of our retail dispensary business. You will drive results through collaboration with numerous business units of Curaleaf that include retail team members, wholesale planners, marketing, production planners, and operations.

 

The successful candidate will be an inspiring people leader who has a track record of managing high performance teams and developing talent. We want you to roll-up your sleeves and enjoy getting into the details. We want you to lean on your deep knowledge of merchandising, planning, and inventory management to improve the Curaleaf business. We want you to be curious about all aspects of cannabis as the Director of Retail Planning will work closely with cross functional partners on maximizing dispensary revenue via strategic initiatives. We want you to be motivated by solving problems – using your skills with excel, tableau, and various data analytics platforms to find solutions that will enhance our business. We want you to help people discover cannabis with confidence. This role will report into the structure managed by the Vice President of Retail Planning.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates accurate & financially sound forecasts – working closely with your team through the monthly planning process
  • Provides strategic direction to scale the business – balancing short-term needs with long-term priorities
  • Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of buying: product innovation, vendor meetings, costing negotiations, executive reporting, pricing analysis, promotional calendars, and product exit strategies
  • Understands the competitive landscape and identifies new opportunities for Curaleaf brands and products
  • Build, coach, and develop a team of regional buyers who will be accountable for the revenue & inventory strategies of Curaleaf dispensaries
  • Implement tools, streamline processes, and remove inefficient ways of doing business to improve the team
  • Accountable for your region’s retail financial performance: revenue, margin, inventory management, and promotional activity
  • Collaborates with key cross-functional teams to support the evolving needs of the Curaleaf business
  • This role is remote and will require 3 days in office. 



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
    • 10+ years of experience in retail merchandising, retail buying, and/or retail merchandise planning
    • Strong presentation skills and ability to listen
    • Demonstrates ability to make decisions under pressure
    • Self-motivated, driven, and enjoys solving complex problems
    • Solutions based team member
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Tableau (preferred)
    • Ability to gather / analyze data and to work with incomplete information
    • Comfortable in both creative & analytical situations
